Find the Best Way to Contribute

Friends of Scouting

Friends of Scouting is the annual giving campaign of the Rainbow Council that helps provide the necessary funds to ensure a quality Scouting program for every youth.

Employer Match Program

Double your impact with employer matching programs. Many companies will match your donations to Scouting, amplifying your support. Contact your HR department to see if your employer offers a matching program.

James E West Fellowship

The James E West Fellowship Award recognizes donors who contribute at least $1000 or more in cash or securities to the Rainbow Council Endowment Fund above a typical Friends of Scouting donation. Awards can be made in honor of someone.

Non-Monetary Donations

We welcome donations of office supplies, camping gear, historical Scouting memorabilia, and more. We also appreciate contributions of services or items for our special events, such as our Annual Golf Classic or Sporting Clays event.

Current Fundraising Initiatives

Discover the powerful impact you can make by joining our ongoing and current fundraising initiatives. These special projects are more than just goals—they’re opportunities to transform the lives of our Scouts and strengthen the future of our community. Your support today will inspire tomorrow's leaders.

Merits for Scouting Sponsorship

The Rainbow Council Merit Badge Sponsorship Program provides opportunities for Scouts to grow physically, mentally, and morally. By attending Scouting’s structured, safe activities, youth members do not have as much idle time to explore drugs, alcohol, or find themselves in as many peer pressure activities. The Scouting program is a year-round effort because the pressures on our young people increase every day. There is no better time than now to help guide youth in positive directions.

Your partnership will positively affect our 2,200 Scout families in our 3 counties of Grundy, Kankakee and Will.

Your participation plays a vital role in making that impact possible.

We are pleased to offer a variety of sponsorship opportunities that showcase your organization’s commitment to youth development while providing strong visibility throughout the event.

Annual Sporting Clays Classic

Saturday, September 26, 2026

Take Aim for a Great Cause!

Get ready for a day of camaraderie, competition, and purpose at the Rainbow Council Sporting Clays Classic! Whether you're a seasoned shooter or just looking for a memorable day outdoors, this annual event delivers an unbeatable experience; all while supporting youth as they build skills for life.

Set against the fantastic Downers Grove Sportsman Club sporting clays course, teams will take on 100 rounds across 14 exciting stations, offering just the right mix of challenge and fun. Don’t have a full team? Individual shooters are welcome and will be placed on teams the day of the event. Bring friends, colleagues, or clients, and feel free to register multiple teams (up to 4 shooters per team).

Here’s what your day looks like:

  • 8:30 AM – On-site registration opens
  • 9:00 AM – Stations open, shooting begins
  • 11:00 AM – Lunch served right on the course
  • Post-shoot – Celebrate with a tailgate-style meal, drinks, and raffles

And that’s just the start. Every participant receives a hat and gift bag, plus two incredible meals to keep you fueled throughout the day. Between rounds, enjoy raffles, great company, and the satisfaction of supporting a mission that truly matters.

Have flexibility in your roster? You can register now and fill in names later — just use “Open Shooter” and update your team before the event.

Pro tip: Bring your own golf cart or ATV — they’re encouraged! Limited rentals will be available on-site.

This isn’t just a shoot — it’s an experience. A chance to connect, compete, and contribute to shaping the next generation of leaders.

Spots fill quickly — secure your team today and be part of something meaningful.

Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner

Thank you for joining us in honoring Tom and Michele Vana

Thank You for Joining Us at the Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner to honor Tom and Michele Vana.

We were honored to recognize two outstanding members of our community at the Rainbow Council Scouting America Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner, held Wednesday, October 29. Over 170 guests came together to celebrate this special couple whose lives reflect the values of the Scout Oath and Law every day.

The evening featured displays from local Eagle Scouts, who shared their projects and the positive impact they have made in their communities. Guests were also inspired by Alexis McCullough, Eagle Scout and organizer of the Kankakee Gold Star Family Memorial Project, whose heartfelt remarks highlighted the power of Scouting to help young people create lasting change through mentorship, service, and leadership. The Vanas and their tireless dedication to serving others truly embody the spirit of Scouting. We are deeply grateful for their example and for the continued support of all who make Scouting possible across Will, Grundy, and Kankakee counties.

Thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, and supported this meaningful celebration of service and community. Your generosity helps us prepare today’s youth for the world of tomorrow. We would also like to thank the members of the DCAD committee for volunteering their time to plan this amazing event. We extend our sincere gratitude to the sponsors whose generosity made this event possible. Your support strengthens Scouting programs and provides invaluable opportunities for youth across our council. We look forward to seeing you next year for another inspiring evening honoring our Distinguished Citizens.

Join Us In Restoring the RSR Chapel

The Chapel at Rainbow Scout Reservation needs our help. This year, we are taking action and going forward with the Development of Faith in Our Youth restoration plan. This plan will include repairing the Chapel roof, cleaning and restaining the structure, adding new landscaping and an accessible entrance, as well as adding new benches and pews.

We are also using the campaign as a way to reinstall efforts into expending out religious opportunities to our youth. Programs such as our First Annual Interfaith Hike, expansion of the Religious Emblems program for both Youth and Adults, offset the costs of religious medals and ceremonies, and more.
