The Camp Card Program - OPPORTUNITY

The camping experience in Scouting is a method we use, our outdoor classroom, to offer Scouts the opportunity to explore and learn in a safe and healthy environment.  A Scout that attends camp is more likely to stay in Scouting to reap all the benefits that Scouting has to offer as the Scouting Program is the leader in youth value based programming.

The Camp Card Program is not just a means for a unit to help their Scouts get to camp and other activities, but a resource to help units purchase the equipment needed so their Scouts can enjoy the adventure that Scouting has to offer. Please remember that the Camp Card Program is an OPPORTUNITY for Scouts—an opportunity to explore, to participate and to create memories with friends and family.  The Camp Card is a simple $5 gift that will help build tomorrow’s leaders.

"As a mother and a volunteer, I want the best for my Scouts.  Scouting has given them an opportunity to reach beyond their potential.  I have watched their confidence build, their desire to learn flourish and above all have seen my young boys grow into fine young men.  Take advantage of the Camp Card Program and help your Scouts seize the OPPORTUNITY that Scouting has to offer."  Rachel Ricci—Council Camp Card Chair

How it Works

The intent of the Camp Card sale is to allow units to raise funds to pay for their year round Camping Program. This includes purchasing camping equipment such as tents, backpacks, and sleeping bags; and to send Scouts to Cub Scout Day Camp, Resident Camp, NYLT, and other great programs.

Camp Cards sell for $5 each. The Unit earns 50% commission, or $2.50 per card sold. The cards come in a promotional envelope with 10 cards in each envelope.  Be sure to plan out your sale, as once the unit has the cards they belong to the unit. Cards can be transferred to other units to sell.

Units may order Camp Cards from their District Camp Card Chair by returning the unit commitment form to their DE and can pick up the cards at the Kick-off on March 5, 6:30PM at the Jacob Henry Mansion in Joliet. There are limited numbers of Cards available, so it is first come first serve.  Be sure to get your Commitment Form completed and turned in by February 6, 9AM.   Camp Cards should ONLY be sold during the authorized sales period, which is March to May.

  • Feb. 6—Commitments due to District Executives
  • March 5—Kickoff and Sale begins (cards distributed)

  • March-May—weekly updates on inventories
  • May 30—funds due to council (2.50 per card)
  • June—GO TO CAMP
