Duty to God and Country Leadership Luncheon

The 2021 Duty to God and Country Leadership Luncheon

This year, our Annual Scout Leadership Luncheon: Duty to God and Country, is scheduled on November 11th, 2021. Every year we have been guests of Olivet Nazarene University. They provide the upmost hospitality in hosting our event. With their generosity and partnership, (over the past few years) we had many attendees meet and greet several special guest speakers, along with a tour of their facility for our Eagle Scouts. Two years ago, we had the honor of introducing our Scouting attendees to Aaron Linsdau. He spoke to our scouts, about perseverance, determination, strength and adventure. The Scouts were able to meet him, take photos and long-lasting memories of the event.

Rainbow Council stands the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Events like these showcase real life application of Scout skills later in life. Our Scouts come from Will, Grundy and Kankakee county. Every day these scouts are learning to apply their skills to their personal lives and their communities.

Events like the Scout Luncheon helps keep the Scouting Program local. In order to serve the youth of Will, Grundy, and Kankakee, we need support.  The Annual Scout Leadership Luncheon: Duty to God and County will be held on November 11th, 2021 at Olivet Nazarene University from 12 PM to 1 PM.

Last year, we had the honor knowing Sgt. Edgar Harrell—USMC Survivor USS Indianapolis. He was excited to accept our invitation and speak to our Scouts about his survival and experiences. While he agreed to come meet with us, he unfortunately passed away before meeting our Scouts for our Leadership luncheon. We give our condolences to the family and friends of Sgt. Edger Harrell and invite anyone who wishes to learn more about him to pick up a book at the Scout Service center and read all about his experiences.

This year, we have the honor of having Brigadier General Thomas Draude. This year, Rainbow Council would like to extend our invitation to local veterans to hear Brigadier General Thomas Draude speak about his experiences.

We would also like to take this opportunity to ask that you join us at our event, at  Olivet Nazarene University Warming House, University Ave, Bourbonnais, IL 60914 – Parking Near the Athletic Field Entrance. This is a once in a lifetime experience.
